Whether looking for a fun weekend activity or planning your Spring Break “staycation” Northwest Arkansas has so much to offer! At Summit, we are in awe of the events and opportunities our rich area provides. Here is the skinny on a few of our favorites. These all allow you to have family fun without spending lots of money.

First on our list is Devil’s Den State Park. It is a state icon and really a national treasure. The park honors the historic legacy of Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Civilian Conservation Corp. You’ll experience both nature and beautiful man-made architecture mirroring its settings. You can enjoy the State Park in a number of ways including: hiking, backpacking, and biking its trails. Or book a stay in one of their 17 cabins or on 143 campsites on property. Devil’s Den also features a horse camp area that offers access to 20 miles of riding trails in the Lee Creek Valley and on surrounding ridges.

Wild Wilderness Drive-through Safari in Gentry is another must-do family activity. Located on 400 acres, the safari is home to a variety of exotic animals and consists of 4-mile driving tour, petting parks, and walk-through areas for interaction with our animals. Be ready to be wowed while learning as adults and kids are amazed by these magnificent creatures. Plan to stay the day and enjoy their snack bar or pack your own picnic lunch.

Another amenity in our area is the stunning Botanical Gardens of the Ozarks. Annually more than 80,000 visitors enjoy their collection of gardens while fostering an appreciation for the natural ecosystem of the Ozarks. The Botanical Garden is open seven days a week from 9 am to 5pm and admission is just $7 for adults and $4 for kids ages 5 to 12. Kids under 5 are free! You’ll admire both the beauty and the complexity of the natural world though this experience.

Terra Studios is simply a wonderland of art, a popular Northwest Arkansas tourist attraction and another fun family friendly destination. They offer weekly events and annual fundraisers with local musicians, amazing song-writing talents and all kind of artistic expressions. If you have never been, you simply must go.

We hope you’ll use these ideas as inspiration to find the perfect fit for you and your family. Make sure to stay tuned for our next blog which will include several other amazing places to visit. It’s a good reminder how much excitement can be found in our neck of the woods – Northwest Arkansas!
